What are the risks associated with dermal filler injections?
After treatment, the most common side effects to occur after treatment are swelling, redness, bruising, pain, or itching around injection sites. Occasionally, fillers can cause lumps, infection, or discoloration in the treated skin. Rarely, serious side effects may occur, including changes in vision, scarring, or allergic reaction. You can minimize the risks of any treatment by choosing a trusted and experienced provider.

Do dermal filler injections hurt?
Your treatment injections will feel comparable to other injections you might receive from your physician. You will experience a slight pinch with each injection, but you can minimize any discomfort with numbing cream applied at the beginning of your appointment. Some dermal fillers also contain lidocaine to reduce pain.

What is the difference between dermal fillers and neuromodulators like Botox?
While both of these injectable facial rejuvenation treatments improve the appearance of wrinkles and skin laxity, specific criteria may make one treatment more suitable for different areas of the face. Dermal fillers increase volume and smooth static wrinkles, or wrinkles that appear due to gravity and volume depletion. Neuromodulators such as Botox are specifically designed to treat dynamic wrinkles or wrinkles caused by repeated facial movements. Examples of dynamic wrinkles include frown lines, crow’s feet, and smile lines. The combined use of dermal fillers and neuromodulators allow you to treat fine lines and wrinkles throughout the face without surgery.
